Directional Well Design

Sigra has experience and expertise in the analysis and design of directional wells. Directional wells are drilled at an angle to the vertical or horizontally, a technique that is more costly and difficult than regular vertical drilling. Our well design techniqes reduce the risk of well-failure and mis-alignment, saving money in re-drilling costs.

Directional drilling can be done for a variety of reasons. For coal-bed methane purposes a directional well can increase the exposed area of coal in the seam allowing for improved output. In groundwater applications it can be necessary to intersect a range of wells for de-watering purposes, requiring extremely accurate directional drilling control.

Sigra’s directional well design techniques and products account for the specific requirements of the particular well, geological factors, and allowable deviations. These result in a cost effective and more reliable outcome.
