Sigra will be at two conferences in Montreal in September. The first is GeoMontreal 2024 GeoMontreal 2024 where Dr Ian Gray will present a paper on new developments in wick drains which incorporate air lifting to enhance consolidation. These have particular reference to tailings dams as well as civil engineering applications.

The second conference will be Deep Mining 2024 where Ian will present a paper on dealing with groundwater in underground mines. This will provide coherent drilling and testing methods and also present new approaches to dealing with wet ground. This includes the use of very high-pressure, high-volume grouting using oilfield hydrofracture equipment to exclude water from the mining area before mining commences.

Both conferences will be held at the Hotel Bonaventure in Montreal. GeoMontreal will be held between 15 and 18 September and Deep Mining will be from 24–26 September 2024. Sigra will have a booth at both conferences where it will be possible for you to see and discuss our latest developments including rock stress measurement, rock property determination, and dealing with groundwater whether your project is near surface or 2 km underground. Sigra works in the civil, mining and petroleum fields and we can bring this cross disciplinary experience to help with your specific challenges in the ground.
